  1. An introduction to Education, Learning Theories, and Approaches

Schools are products of history. Schooling, as it exists today, only makes sense if we view it from a historical perspective. This module gives an outline of the history of education, from many years ago until now.  It also gives an insight into the main theories of Education, from Behaviorism to the latest cutting-edge theories, and practices that are used around the world.

  1. Curriculum Development for Educators

In many ways, the need for curriculum development is self-evident. Trying to teach each day in a lecture hall or K-12 classroom without a plan in place is not the perfect approach.  A thoughtfully developed curriculum provides educators with a useful framework to build upon during day-to-day instructions. This module will give you the right skills to prepare curricula in many fields of Education.

  1. Learning and Teaching: A Cross-Cultural Perspective

This module addresses the four levels: classroom, school, local environment, and state which are in a reciprocal relationship to each other. In teacher training, it is important to realize how the state indirectly steers classroom activities through curriculum plans, and how leadership and ways of cooperation are influencing teachers’ classroom practices and students’ learning.

  1. Different Approaches to Literacy Education

In order to be effective in teaching the student's literacy skills, teachers should use a variety of instructional approaches. In this module, you will learn about some of the most common approaches to teaching literacy, including basic reading programs, the language experience approach, and literature-based approaches, etc. These approaches intend to give the students the right tools to read and write texts.

  1. Different Approaches to Mathematics Education

In this module, we discuss different approaches for teaching mathematics in school which may be taken singularly or in conjunction with each other to organize the mathematical curriculum. Some of these approaches include the topics approach, the process approach, and the conceptual field's approach. Such approaches enable students to learn how to calculate and interpret mathematical data and formulas.
